明末清初，山東淄川的蒲松齡將聽來、讀來的奇怪故事整理成篇，集結成《聊齋誌異》。寫成後，經人輾轉傳抄，流傳很廣，也被公認是清代短篇小說的傑出作品。原書為文言文，總共四百多篇。蒲先生用他的生花妙筆讓神、鬼、狐、仙具有靈性，篇篇引人入勝，為了便利現代讀者也能欣賞這些精采故事，因此選錄具有代表性以及適於閱讀的五十九篇，加以白話改寫，希望《聊齋誌異》能給更多人的茶餘飯後增添一點不一樣的樂趣。
